Château de la Forêt – The Castle Moulbaix – Abandoned in Belgium

The Château of the Forest or the Castle Moulbaix / Château de Chasteleer is located along the Place Henri Stourme in Belgium.

It was built in after Marquis Du Chasteler Oswald required its construction. Oswald was a descendant of the Hainault family which were settled in Moulbaix since the middle ages. When the Castle of the Rest was built, the former fortress that was found there was replaced.

Regarding the current castle, it was designed in a Neo – Tudor style by architect Desire Athois Limburg. It features 344 windows and is located in the middle of a 62-acre piece of land.

The Château of the Forest is now property of the children of the Count d’Ursel Aymard. Sadly, they didn’t know what to do with it, so the castle slowly began to fall into decay. Quite sad, isn’t it?

You can find the spectacular Chateau de la Foret with these coordinates. 50.605964, 3.713819.
