Eastern State was one of the first modern penitentiaries. It operated from 1829 until 1971. This prison was designed in a revolutionary wagon wheel shape. After this one, that kind of shape became a globally adopted style. Rumor has it that Willie Sutton and Al Capone spent their prison years at Eastern State too! Eastern State is now a national landmark, highly remarkable for its structure and history!

It surely gives a creepy feeling to all of us, but at the same time, people find it so worth exploring. The fact that Al Capone might have spent his life there makes it 100 times more exciting for us. Who wouldn’t want to know more about the place where the infamous Scarface lived?
