Kansas City Workhouse Castle

The Kansas City Workhouse Castle was built in 1897, and designed as a city jail for petty offenders. As  part of their sentence the prisoners were expected to work.  The jail closed in 1924 and the building was  repurposed many times until it was abandoned in 1972.
