Detroit is definitely known for its abandoned locations all around the inner city and suburbs. A few weeks ago I came across a Methodist church with some amazing architecture on the inside. As we entered into the basement area and up the stairs we came right into the gymnasium which had seating on the upper level.
The floor was surprisingly in good shape in this area. As we made our way to the right of the gym it took us to a back room where a kitchen area and steps led up and down behind the main alter in the other room. The kitchen was all painted yellow, but what really stood out to me was the doorway headed into the church that had a comfy chair and collapsing stairs with bright red carpet just beyond it.
As we made our way back through the gym and around into the main church the yellow light from the stained glass illuminated all the detail of the alter and surrounding areas. The floors in this part were very sketchy and many areas you could see through to the basement.
The wood work in this place really cool to see! It was one of the most deteriorated churches I had been through in a while, but those are the best kind! Here is a link to some video of this church as well as another church just down the road. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7wwoz885UE&t=1s
