The Abandoned Ambassador Apartment Building of Lake County in Indiana

The Ambassador Apartment Building is located on 556 Monroe Street in the city of Gary, Lake County, Indiana.

The apartments were built in 1928 and they were a sign of luxury and majesty at that time. As they were initially built for the upper class, they featured excellent views and ornate fireplaces, things that the other classes couldn’t exactly afford.

The structure was quite popular until the 1960s. Then, the apartments faced low maintenance, resulting in them becoming low-income houses. Eventually, they closed forever.

Over the years, the apartments have been prone to stealing and they have been quite neglected. It was thought to renovate them around 1995, but nothing was actually done. Now, the Ambassador Apartment Building remains just a memory of the past and nothing else.
