There is a family that owns 6 houses, each one only 160 feet in size. The Brinks family live all together in the same place. Mom Keli said that her husband wanted all of the family in one cabin, but she disagreed with him, saying that the kids need their own privacy. So, they built this tiny house village where the houses produce less waste and require less heating.
The Brinks purchased of a 21-acre property in Kentucky five years ago. It cost them $57,000 in total. Then, they turned it into the beautiful tiny house village that it is today.
There are 6 tiny houses in total shared by the 4 family members: the parents’ house, two separate houses for Lennox and Brodey, a double bathroom house, a pool house, and a guest house.
The parents’ house has an area of 280 square feet and it cost the most to build: $9,000.
Living with less is both cheap and friendly to the environment
Lennox Brinks says that the most important advantage of this kind of living is that “we live more sustainably now in this system. We use much less energy because when a house is not being used, there doesn’t need to be any heating or air conditioning used. Our electricity bill since moving has gone down drastically. We have a garden and produce a lot of the food we eat from our own hands, and we also compost almost all of our food, recycle, and produce much less waste. This was the most important aspect of this arrangement to my mom and was one of the reasons we decided to live with less.”
The living room is very comfortable and full of natural light.
The kitchen is quite spacious too.
There’s even a full-sized bathtub!
However, Lennox’s and Brodey’s tiny houses don’t have bathrooms. That’s why they have to go outside to use these two bathrooms.
This is the guest bedroom of the tiny guest house.
There’s also a private pool house that measures around 180 square feet.
This is where the family occasionally meets for their game nights.
This is Brodey’s tiny house. He has a king-size bed upstairs, a couch, and a TV.
This one belongs to Lennox.
Lennox’s tiny house has everything from a dresser to a full-size bed upstairs.
The building in the picture below is the family’s private office. Brinks parents use it to work from home.
“It seems much worse than it is. I just put a coat on if it’s cold or raining. I’ll just bundle up and run over there,” said Lennox about the bathroom that is located outside.
What’s more, the family also has a private barn just behind the houses!
